COVID-19: We Will Keep Paying Full Salaries to Players and Staff – Kwara Chairman

As Corona Virus continues to disrupt sports activities around the world, football clubs worldwide are adopting measures to curb the financial hardship brought about by the virus but chairman of NPFL side, Kwara United has disclosed that the club has been paying full salaries to its players, coaches and non-playing staff since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Chairman of the Ilorin-based side, Elder Kunbi Titiloye (JP) disclosed this in an interview session on foremost Nigerian Sports WhatsApp group, NSM. He said although the virus has not brought any succor, the club has continued to pay full salaries to everyone in the club.

“Kwara United has been paying all staff and management salaries since this pandemic broke out and we intend to continue paying”.

Quizzed further on whether the club will continue paying until the world is fully healed, Kumbi said “we intend to keep paying until we hear otherwise from our owners the Kwara State Government. ”

“I hope the pandemic will be over pretty soon, so we can all go back to what we love doing most, which is football”, he added.

The Harmony Boys are occupying the 19th position on the NPFL log before the league was suspended due to the outbreak of COVID-19. It is yet to be determined when the league will return, as the games were paused at Week 25.
