Edo Queens stand-in Captain in the Nigeria Women Football League Match day 5 encounter, Ogechi Joseph has said she was pleased to see her side secured all three points against Nasarawa Amazons at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Wednesday evening.

The Coach Rollanson Odeh side broke the deadlock in the 38th minutes when the visitors goalkeeper let Elizabeth Zirike’s powerful freekick slip through her grasp twice before crossing the goal line to put the home side in front.

The victory takes the high-flying Edo Queens to 11 points to occupy the third position on the league table.

Ogechi told FreekickNaija moments after the final whistle that they deserved all the three points owing to their performance.

“I’m so excited,” Ogechi told FreekickNaija. “I’m so glad because all we needed was winning and we got it.

“All my mind, all my zeal was victory, nothing less, it was non-negotiable.”

“Playing the central defensive role and skipper for the Match day, I was very determined not to allow them (Amazons) penetrate our backline.

“It was a team effort and a deserved victory,” Ogechi enthused.
