FIFA call off Nigeria VS Lesotho 2021 Afcon Qualifier

FIFA have postponed international matches in September in Africa, Asia, Oceania and North America which invariably means that the Super Eagles 2021 AFCON qualifier reverse game against Lesotho is called off.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were scheduled to welcome Lesotho on September 8 after they thumped the Southern Africans 4-2 in the first leg in Maseru in November 2019.

A new date has yet to be fixed for this match by the world governing body.

The latest postponement lends credence to fears that Nigeria may not play international football this year.

In March, the AFCON qualifying double header against Sierra Leone was put off and this was followed by the away clash in Benin fixed for June.

Nigeria top Group L with six points from two matches, while Benin are second on three points and Lesotho third on a point.

Sierra Leone are bottom of the standings on a solitary point.

The qualifying tournament for the 2022 World Cup is scheduled to start in October.

Nigeria are drawn along with Cape Verde, Central African Republic and Liberia.
