The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Lobi Stars Football Club Makurdi in deep sympathy write to commiserate with FC Ifeanyi Ubah over the unfortunate incidence of the arm robbery attack suffered by the team in Kogi on their way for the match day 6 fixture against Jigawa Golden Stars in Kano.
In an official press release by the management of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, the unfortunate incidence occurred at about 1:30 PM at Kabba Junction near Lokoja Kogi State, the armed robbery gang were said to have dressed in NYSC uniform, a ploy that lowered their suspicion. Though no life was lost but the Driver of the vehicle was shot and the coaches and one of the players sustained various degrees of injuries but are responding to treatment in the hospital
Recall, FC Ifeanyi Ubah were the last opponents of Lobi Stars FC as hosts in Nnewi and were so friendly and hospitable.
The Executive Vice Chairman of Lobi Stars FC Mr Mike Idoko Okpe condemned the act of the hoodlums in totality and called on security agencies to intensify security efforts on our highways considering the fact that all travels for the league are done by road, he also call on the league management company (LMC) to workout partnership with an airline that could airlift players to airports nearest to match venues at rebate rates to reduce mishaps associated with travelling long distances on unsafe roads as practice in other leagues.
Mr Mike Idoko call on the entire football family in Nigeria to pray for the victims of the attack for speedy recovery in order to return to duty as soon as possible and also pray against the reoccurrence of similar incidence(s).
