Madu eyes Heartland Scalp in Okigwe

After a sterling performance in Mauritania against F.C Nouadhibou in a match day 3 Total/CAF Confederation cup match in Nouachott that helped the ‘Flying Antelopes’ earn a goalless draw, midfield maestro, Chiamaka Madu, says all attention of the team is now on wrestling all three points from neighbours, Heartland F.C in a match day 11, NPFL fixture in Okigwe.

Madu made this known in an exclusive chat, Wednesday, January 1, 2020, in Enugu as the seven time Nigeria league champions, Rangers International F.C continue preparations for the ‘Oriental Derby’ scheduled for January 5, 2020 at Okigwe township stadium.

“Surely, we are worried by our current position in the league and we have vowed to turn the bad patch for good. It has started with the result we were able to get in Nouachott and we are taking that form to Okigwe for all three points at stake,” stated the all action midfielder.

He further said, “The seriousness which we, the players attach to this game made us to shelve all celebrations of the season and in training on a New Year day so as to propel our club to an enviable position which will make our fans, supporters, management and government happy. I appreciate the fact that our opponent, Heartland is not too comfortable but that is for them to worry about as we have resolved to grab the maximum point at stake. By God’s grace we shall achieve our target in Okigwe.”

Recall that Rangers did a double over Heartland in the pre-season winning 4-2 in Okigwe followed by a Christian Madu’ long range shot that beat Agbor Ekoi in the return fixture in Enugu on October 9, 2019 and would be looking to continue the dominace in the 2019/2020 season this weekend.
