Nasarawa Utd vow to bounce back from home defeat

Nasarawa United Chairman, Ibrahim Abdullahi Osanga, has assured fans of the Lafia-based club never to lose sleep as the team will bounce back stronger in subsequent games.

Osanga stated this shortly after the team’s 0-1 loss to Wikki Tourists of Bauchi during the Nigerian Professional Football League week two game decided at the Lafia City Stadium earlier today.

According to him, “Our boys played well. The goals were rather not coming.

“We created a lot of goalscoring chances, but luck was not on our side. Our opponents had only two clear chances on goal and one counted for them, that is football.

“But we have thirty-seven more matches to go. So, the league is still a long way to go.

“We shouldn’t be judged by this curtain raiser loss. We will bounce back stronger and more intimidating”, he assured.

Osanga added that “After the loss, I had to visit the players at their camp to encourage them and reassure them of better days ahead.

“I saw their mood and it wasn’t pleasant at all. As a father, I had to talk them up with some pep talks, and I hope they get motivated going forward”.

Substitute, Sixtus Forsah scored the only goal of the game for Wikki Tourists in the 80th minute with his first touch on the ball from twenty metres away from United’s goal area.

In a related scenario, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Othman Bala Adam, has described Nasarawa United as “work-in-progress”.

The former Legislator made the disclosure while responding to questions from journalists who came to cover the Nasarawa United versus Wikki Tourists NPFL match at the Lafia City Stadium earlier today.

“The team is work-in-progress implies that you observe your shortcomings, and do the needful when next you go out for a challenge. That is football, and that is the beauty of the game, fair play”, the Commissioner said.

Nasarawa United’s next game is a rescheduled midweek tie against Enyimba of Aba, in Abia State, before journeying to Katsina to take on Katsina United a week later.
