Plateau Utd strategize for Heartland tie

Nigeria Professional Football League leaders, Plateau United Football Club of Jos look set to extend their unbeaten run in the ongoing 2019/2020 season as they confront strugglers, Heartland of Owerri in a week seven fixtures slated for the Okigwe Township Stadium in Imo state.

Plateau United who dropped points at home after being held to a frustrating goaless draw by former champions, Kano Pillars at home last weekend, are looking for how to recoup the lost points as the confront the Naze millionaires as Heartland are fondly called.

The Owerri based team who are not finding life easy this season after picking only a win a two draws in the seven weeks old NPFL will be aiming for their their second victory of the season against the Lalong boys who looks unstoppable and ready to extend their unbeaten start to the season.

With a new man at the helm of affairs in Fidelis Ilechukwu, the former MFM coach is not finding things easy in his new team as he is struggling to assert his philosopy in his new team who are also battling with internal crisis who is invariably affecting the fortunes of the team.

Despite recording tremendous success with his former club, MFM of Lagos climaxing with a second place finish resulting into a CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations cup ticket two years ago, coach Ilechukwu is struggling to mould his new side into a winning team.

However, the situation is different with Plateau United. After managing to escape the drop on the last day of the previous abridged season, the coach Abdu Maikaba tutored side began preparations early ahead of the new season and couple with the prompt payment of salary and other entitlement of the players, the team seems to have found their rhythm as they remind their followers of the 2017 when they conquered other teams to emerge champions.

With his tiki taka style of play similar to that of the famous Spanish giants Barcelona, Plateau United are now the tose of soccer followers in the country with their unique playing pattern which is now the talk of the town as they have succeeded in pulling crowd to the Stadium.

A victory or a draw which looks very likely, is good enough to see Plateau United maintain their unbeaten start to the league season as they eye another stay on top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table.
