2021-22 NNL: Ekiti United Still In The Learning Curve – Sports Commissioner, Hon. Awopetu

Ekiti State sports commissioner, Hon. Michael Awopetu has expressed confident Ekiti United will come good after beating hard fighting Abeokuta Stormers 1-0 on match day 2 of the Nigeria National League at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti last Sunday.

Femi Ojo stoppage time header gave the Kayode Olujohungbe’s tutored side all the three maximum points.

Awopetu while reacting to Ekiti United narrow win moments after the final whistle reckoned that the boys needed some time to play and blend together.

“Good the team won even though we are still suspect in some of our playing patterns. “I believe the coaches will work to improve the team in subsequent games,” said Hon. Awopetu.

“I believe in the next three four games they will improve since bulk of the team are new players. By them, they would have known themselves and blend together very well, because they are still in the learning curve.

“Last season we started the same way and before the middle of that season, they were doing well, so I believed were are going to do well,” the commissioner opined.

Ekiti United will next take a road trip to Onitsha to face Godosky FC in match day 3 at the Oba Stadium.
