3 Things Cyriel Dessers Could Offer To The Super Eagles If He Gets Late Call Up To Replace Odion Ighalo

The three times African champions, the Super Eagles are scheduled to leave Nigeria latest by today ahead of their opening group D encounter against Egypt for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament slated to begin on January 9th.

One of the remaining players whose availability for the tournament is in doubt, is Al Shabab striker, Odion Jude Ighalo.

According to reports, the former Watford frontman may not be release by his club over certain issues. However, as time is no longer on the side of Augustine Eguavoen and his coaching staff, it is necessary that a late invitation is handed to Feyenoord forward, Cyriel Dessers fill the spot.

If Dessers is invited, there are three things that I believe he would bring to the Super Eagles team at the coming AFCON tournament in Cameroon.

1. Urgency In The Attack:

Dessers is one striker that I believe can be able to bring that urgency to our attack at the competition. He does not hold on to the ball for too long before striking the opponent. This is one of the things that are expected of a good striker which Cyriel Dessers stands to bring.

2. Long Balls Threats

Another thing that Super Eagles team stands to benefit from Dessers inclusion is his long balls. The player likes to strike from long distance without necessarily going close to the opponent’s defense. I think we may need that in the team.

3. Good Positioning

Just like Odion Ighalo and Victor Osimhen, Dessers is also good in positioning himself to receive balls from his team mates.
