AFCON 2021: Why Eguavoen Should Recall Henry Onyekuru To Replace Victor Osimhen

It is no longer news that Super Eagles Forward Victor Osimhen is on the verge of missing out of the forthcoming 2021 African Cup Of Nations tournament in Cameroon following a report that he tested positive to Covid-19.

SSC Napoli shared the update few hours ago via their verified Twitter account. According to the club, Victor Osimhen has already been on isolation.

Going by this report, it would be difficult for Osimhen to feature at the biannual competition despite his name being included in the 28 man squad released by the Super Eagles Interim manager, Augustine Eguavoen.

As a result of the current development, I would like Austine Eguavoen to recall Henry Onyekuru whose name was initially included in the 40 man provisional roaster that was submitted to the Confederation of African Football by former coach Gernot Rohr.

Onyekuru’s preferred playing position is left winger but he can also function in the center forward position.

The 24-year-old has a quality of a good striker and would not hesitate to fill the voids Osimhen may leave.
