The outgoing Governor of Anambra state, Mr Willie Obiano on Tuesday 28th December 2021 during the official commissioning of the new Awka Township Stadium has assured Ndi Anambra that the newly built stadium will not be lacking maintenance for a long time.
Lack of maintenance has been the greatest undoing when it comes to sports facilities in Nigeria, the executive governor of Anambra state said that a minimum of 5 years plan and contract was signed between the state government and the contractor of the new stadium, Monimichelle group headed by a renowned FIFA agent Mr Ebi Egbe. Monimichelle group is saddled with the responsibilities of maintaining sure that the pitch remains playable for a long time.
The govenor who was full of confidence that the maintenance work is left in the hand of expert, asked ndi Anambra to worry for nothing, that the stadium is in good care, he asked ndi Anambra to come and use the facilities as it is theirs.
The Governor said that the newly built Awka Township Stadium was mirrored after Camp Nou, the home ground of the famous Barcelona FC of Spain .
