Abia Warriors 1-3 defeat in the hands of Nasarawa United on match day 18 of the Nigeria Professional Football League has been described as ‘avoidable’

Emmanuel Ugwaka gave Warriors the lead in the third minutes but a brace from Solomon Chidi gave the solid miners a 2-1 lead before the interval.

Katop Haggai put the game beyond Abia Warriors in the 75th minute to put score at 3-1 after capitalizing on Austin Obaroakpo defensive error.

Moments after the final whistle, Abia Warriors right back, Chinedu Ozor told FreekickNaija that the defeat was not the true reflection of the game because the solid miners benefited from some defensive gaffe by his team.

“The defeat was avoidable. We started well and took the lead in the 3rd minute but they (Nasarawa United) were lucky to have scored with two deflected goal.

“It was a game we should have taken something from but we have ourselves to blame for the mistakes that we paid dearly for.

“The defeat is behind us. Our focus now is on our next game against city rivals, Enyimba in Aba. It a derby we can’t afford to loss. We are going into Sunday’s game with lot of enthusiasm.

“We are not where we want but there are lot of games to be played but we must start getting the needed results on the road,” said Ozor.

Abia Warriors are placed 9th on the league standings with 24 points.
