Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ekiti State, Hon. Michael Awopetu has said the medal winning athletes to the National Sports Festival, Edo 2020 will be hosted by His Excellency, Dr. Kayode Fayemi next week.
Ekiti State contingent to National Sports Festival won 2 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze medal to finish in the 23rd position out of the 36 States and the FCT in the medals table.
Hon. Awopetu told FreekickNaija in an exclusive interview at the weekend that preparation to host medal winning athletes is almost concluded and they will be recieved by the Governor next week at the government house, Ado-Ekiti.
“We have made every necessary arrangement for Mr Governor to host these athletes who have done the State proud.
“Mr Governor (Kayode Fayemi) has given approval for some amount of money to reward and host these athletes.
“All arrangement have been settled already for the Governor to receive these athletes next week,” said Awopetu.
The commissioner thanked the governor for his unflinching support for sports in the State.
