The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Ekiti State will today take to the pitch in a novelty football match organized to honour the Ekiti State Head of Service, HoS Mrs Peju Babafemi who is bowing out of active service at the end of the month.
The novelty match scheduled for the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti will feature male accounting officers versus female accounting officers who will team up with Women in Management.
The event is part of the week long activities to commemorate the retirement of the sports loving Head of Service.
The body of sports journalists has deemed it fit to honour the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in recognition of the enviable marks she made in the Ministry and since she assumed office as the Head of Service in year 2020.
Expected at the novelty football game are the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi and his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi as well as the Ekiti State governor-elect, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his wife and deputy governor-elect, Mrs Christianah Afuye.
Also expected are all Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries, General Managers and Executive Secretaries as well as all sports loving civil servants in the State.
The Royal Father of the day is the chairman, Ekiti State Obas Council, Oba Gabriel Adejuwon (Onisan of Isan Ekiti) while the mother of the day is Ekiti State governor’s wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi.
There will also be a relay race involving top civil servants in the State during half time of the novelty match.
The event begins at 2pm while the Head of Service, Mrs Peju Babafemi will take the official kick-off.
