The Flamingoes have claimed the three maximum points against Ethiopia in the first leg of the double encounters in the final stage of U17 FIFA Women’s World Qualifiers.

Ajakaye scored the only goal of the game midway into the first 45 minutes of the game. Both teams earlier attempt to get into the scoring sheet without success.
However, Ajakaye came through after she benefited from a through pass that was supplied by Taiwo Afolabi.
The Flamingoes had several opportunities to score especially in the second half but they were denied by the Ethiopian goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, there are two Flamingoes players that deserve special commendation in the course of the game.
- Faith Omilana
The Flamingoes goalkeeper was particularly impressive as she saved several attempts that were launched by the opponents. If not for Omilana the result would have been different. - Taiwo Afolabi
Afolabi is another player that gave good account of herself in the pitch today. She contributed the only goal the Flamingoes scored during the game.
