Columbus Crew big striker Fanendo Adi has donated 2,000 bags of Rice worth millions of naira to the Benue State Government as part of his contributions to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping through the world.
Adi said “I and my family are very honored and privileged to be able to give back to our people. Thank God for his many blessings, I’m happy to say we just donated 2000 bags of rice worth 10 million Naira to the Benue state Government for the vulnerable among us.
It is my desire and hopes that this food item gets to the people, bc that will be my absolute joy”.
The Benue state native was called up to the Super Eagles for the double-header again Egypt in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in March 2016 under coach Samson Siasia. At the time, Adi was one of hottest names in the MLS breaking a record that stood for 35 years.
In appreciation, he said “thank you to his Excellency Deputy Gov Engr B Abounu, for receiving this donation on behalf of the state. Thank you to my Daddy Chris Adi, daddy Prof M Jibo and mummy D Jibo, Mr. T Anyo, and my wonderful sister Mrs. M Anyo, my brother Hemen, for all the effort in making this day fruitful, may God bless you all. And may God bless the people of Benue state Nigeria”
Adi banged 51 goals and raked 14 for Portland Timbers before signing for Columbus Crew in January 2020.
