The 4th edition of the OSOM games organized by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, is an event aimed at developing friendly relationships among officers and men of the military and paramilitary agencies in the country.
It is also aimed at identifying and developing high performance athletes among the agencies.
The OSOM games was initiated as a result of Nigeria’s poor representation at the 2012 Olympics in london, with its first edition held in Kaduna state in 2014.
The federal fire service have been known to record superb performances in past editions of the OSOM games.
In 2018, federal fire service gathered 5 Gold, 14 silver and 18 bronze medals to claim third (3rd) place behind prisons service who came second (2nd) with 18 Gold, 20 silver and 14 bronze and Nigerian police force who claimed 1st position with 41 Gold, 14 Silver and 10 bronze.
The head of sports, Federal fire service, IBRAHIM ISMAILA gave his comments in anticipation of the 4th OSOM games scheduled to hold at the national stadium from Monday 18th January 2021 to Sunday 24th January 2021.
He said that he believes the event will be a memorable one ,and athletes of the federal fire service will soar high despite the setbacks of the covid 19 pandemic which has hindered athletes from proper preparation.
The OSOM GAMES is set to commence from Monday 18th January to 24th January 2021.
