After his football career was put to an end even before it started, the head coach of MD Football Academy, Musa Hussaini Ibrahim has grown to becoming a World class coach having recorded mouthwatering achievements both within and out of the shores of Nigeria.
The Kogi-Born gaffer in his 8-year coaching career has given a good account of himself during spells with football clubs in Nigeria, India, United Arab Emirates, and still counting.
Recalling how his playing career ended and birthing his coaching journey, Ibrahim, in an interview with Timothy Aiyeku (Abuja), said “My football coaching journey started 8+ years ago at a young age after I sustained a career ending injury (Knee). A career that ended even before it started. The most horrible experience ever.”
He continued “As a talented, bright, young intelligent young boy I was fortunate to have very good senior coaches around me during my time in the academy who believed in me and encouraged me to take up coaching.”
What will be heard of Coach Ibrahim in coming years is no fluke as he has learnt from talented coaches, Bozo Matijevic (Croatian) the Technical Director of football college Abuja, Renzo Gobbo (Italian) Head Coach, Boris (Croatian) assistant coach and Lawal Dankoli (Nigerian) and current assistant coach of the Nigerian u17 team.
The former Head Coach, Al Gharbia Sports Club Abu Dhabi UAE said, “I’m forever grateful to these guys for everything.
“These great guys collectively agreed to take me under their wings made me a Trainer in the academy (Abuja Football College) in 20013 and few months later made me an assistant coach after the death of the technical director (Bozo Matijevic) R. I. P. “
“They saw that I’ve a chance of becoming something big in the future as a coach after been forced to stop playing due to injury.
“This is why what motivates me as a coach is helping the younger generation get a chance to do what I couldn’t do due to injury and the smiles on their faces when I make them believe they can be anything they want with hard work and commitment.”
Below are some of the achievements of the CAF C licensed coach, who is in his 20s
● ABU DHABI FA 2021 preseason matches UAE. 8 Matches, 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss.
● 28 total matches including scouting games, 18 wins, 5 draws and 5 loses.
● 2021 champions of the 1st edition of the Abuja Elite championship Abuja,
Nigeria.
● 2018-2019footballu u9 and U13 Champions, All Indian Football Federation Baby League (Unbeaten in all 14 matches).
● 2018 Ernakulam C Division Youth District Champions. (The only team with
the youngest set of players in the tournament and unbeaten in all 12
matches).
● Head Coach at Scoreline Sports, Kerala Blasters Football School, Kerala,
India, ranked 1st in grass root development for 2 consecutive years in India.
● 2016 Base u16 Super Cup Champions, Abuja Nigeria.
● 2016 Champions of the famous Mladen Ramljak U18 tournament in Zagreb, Croatia. (as an assistant coach)
● 2015 Champions at the 63rd Edition of Kvarnerska Rivijera U16 tournament
in Rijeka, Croatia. (as an assistant Coach).
