Ishaya Jatau Predicts Nasarawa United To Win 2021/2022 NPFL Title

Former Nigeria International, Ishaya Jatau has predicted that Nasarawa United would win the league title.

Ishaya Jatau who featured for then Green Eagles (now known as Super Eagles) between 1988-1995 disclosed this on Wednesday to Nasarawa United Media at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, where the Club is holding its pre-league closed door camping activities.

According to him, Nasarawa United were only unlucky not to have won any silverware last season.

“I have repeatedly watched Nasarawa United play, I think they are, unarguably, one of the five best-playing sides as far as the Nigeria domestic league is concerned.

“They had a fantastic and professional performance last season, but had a bit of a blip on the last day of the league and final of the Aiteo Federation Cup.

“Abia Warriors managed to halt their continental journey, which was compounded further by Bayelsa United in the FA Cup, where they were pre-final favourites.

“They had everything going well for them, until mother luck ran out on them”, he began.

The former Plateau Highlanders of Jos now known as Mighty Jets FC of Jos, and Iwuanyanwu Nationale now known as Heartland FC, however, cast an eye over his crystal ball and prophesied that the coming season would be the Solid Miners’ to capture.

“Nasarawa United have to put behind them the agony of the previous season. They need to exorcise the ghost of those defeats for the entire State and their darling fans across the country.

“They have the Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who does everything for them, which is very very key; they have a wonderful management leadership under an experienced man in Barr. Isaac Danladi, and the coaching staff is led by a man who didn’t only play the game but is a household name in coaching in Africa – I am talking about Coach Bala Nikyu; he knows how to get the best out of his blend of youth and experienced players.

“These individuals all have a winning mentality and they know how to turn things around, so, I see Nasarawa United roaring back to life against all odds.

“As a matter of fact, all Nasarawa United need now is a bit of luck, and once this comes their way, they will begin to win trophies in the coming football seasons”, he concluded.

Ishaya Jatau fondly called “Soccer” by his admirers, scored over five goals in National Jerseys, and was part of the Eagles’ squad that qualified for Algiers 1990 Nations Cup, and scored an important away goal against Benin Republic that qualified Nigeria for Senegal ’92 Nations Cup.

During the 2020/21 NPFL calendar, the Solid Miners needed just a point on the final day of the season against Abia Warriors to play on the Continent, and needed an outright victory against Bayelsa United in the Aiteo Federation Cup final to win their first major silverware, but were denied by ill-luck.
