KWARA UNITED UNVEILS AZEEZ MOHAMMED AS NEW TECHNICAL ADVISER

Kwara United Football Club today unveiled Coach Azeez Audu Mohammed as the new Technical Adviser of the club, following the expiration of the contract of Coach Abdullahi Usman Biffo.

Biffo was in charge of the club for three seasons.

While unveiling the former Shabab Nasir Football Club of Sudan handler at the club’s Secretariat ahead of the team’s departure for the ValueJet Pre-season tournament in Ikenne, the club Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye said that the contract is for a year.

“The Board of the club decided to engage Coach Azeez because of what we have seen him do, and what he is capable of doing, especially in line with the philosophy of the club”, Titiloye said.

He said that the team will give him and his lieutenants all the necessary support in the CAF Confederation Cup competition, as well as other competitions this season.

He commended the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Sports Commission, the Supporters, the Fans and other stakeholders, for their support to the club, even as he appealed for sustained support to the team.

In his reaction after signing the dotted lines, Coach Azeez, who also coached six other clubs in Sudan in an exploit that spanned between 2012 to 2021 said that his target was to surpass the records set by the immediate past handler of the club.

Kwara United Football Club had a good run in two consecutive seasons, ending the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 seasons in fourth positions, and ending up earning a CAF Confederation Cup ticket at the end of the just concluded season.

He expressed satisfaction with the consideration, and pledged to work hard to build on the successes already attained, adding that he was not unaware of the challenges, including, but not limited to the participation in the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup competition.

The former Katsina United Football Club coach joined Kwara United with 12 matches to end the just concluded 2021/2022 NPFL season AA a stop-gap coach, when Biffo left Nigeria for the US on health grounds.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Kwara United Football Club, Kumbi Titiloye has charged the players to remain focused and be disciplined, as they prepare for the challenges in the forthcoming season.

While addressing the players ahead of their departure for Ikenne, for the ValueJet Cup 2022, he reminded the players that Kwara United FC is a professional football club, and that everything needs to be done professionally.

Kwara United FC will compete against clubs that includes other Continental Clubs, Plateau United FC, Remo Stars FC, and Rivers United FC, as well as Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan in the Pre-season tournament.

The competition kicks-off tomorrow, Thursday August 25, 2022.
