By: Timothy Aiyeku

The electorate committee of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), FCT Chapter have resigned their appointments.

The decision of the Electoral committee was conveyed on Monday, April 12, 2021 in a letter signed by the Chairperson, Bar. (Dr) Victoria Nlemigbo Esq, to Coach Godwin Bamigboye, the outgoing Chairman, FCT Football Coaches Association.

Bar. Nlemigbo and two others, Coach Gidado Usman (CAF A), and Coach Mba Chukwubike were on March 6th 2021, inaugurated by the General Assembly of the FCT Football Coaches Association for the purpose of organizing and executing the proposed election of Officers to replace the outgoing executives.

However, there have been disagreement on constitutional matters between the Executive of the Association and the Electoral Committee.

In the letter conveyed to the outgoing Chairman, the Committee said its decision was based on upholding the supremacy of the NFCA FCT Constitution, preventing the NFCA from being dragged to and embarrassed in court.

The committee added that it seeks to maintain the integrity and credibility of the members of the Electoral Committee and uphold the rule of law, “identifying with fairness, transparency and equity.” by making the decision. “Establishing the necessary lessons that no single individual or group individuals are bigger than or above the constitution and the association.” the committee said.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, on Monday, the former head of women football in the FCT FA said the committee was handicapped as they were not armed with necessary documents as required by the provisions.

The experienced legal practitioner in football matters noted that efforts to advise the FCT Football Coaches executive based on the provisions of the constitution failed.

The election has been billed to take place on 24th April but it is unclear if the date would be sacrosanct as there is no electoral committee as it stands.
