By Gbenga Adeleye

A brace from Osun United Jabar Anifowose condemned Ekiti United to it fourth successive away defeat.

Ekiti United went down 2-1 on match day 6 encounter at the Ilorin sports complex on Saturday evening.

The Ayodeji Ayeni side are yet to record a single point(s) on the road suffering a back-to-back away defeat in Lagos and Ilorin in the space of four days respectively.

Osun United took the lead on the half hour mark when Anifowose tapped in from a goal mouth scramble after benefiting from a defensive blunder by Ekiti United defender, Ridwan Gafar who failed to clear his line from a long throw-in by Aleem Adebayo.

Ekiti United rallied round to restore parity but failed to make good use of their chances with the Omoluabi Giants holding the advantage into the interval.

Two minutes after the interval, Osun United doubled their lead when Ebuka Chukwu’s error dropped the ball to an umarked Anifowose who flipped it over the onrushing Ekiti United goalkeeper, Believe Imiete whose touch was not enough to stop the ball from finding the back of the net.

Ekiti United halved the deficit in the 79th minute when substitute, Oyebade Adeleye fired a parallel shot from 30 yards which went past the helpless Nurudeen Lateef in goal for the home team.

Ayodeji Ayeni lads could have drew level deep into stoppage time but Pius Chikodi’s header was well saved by Lateef.

Ekiti United will next host Rovers of Calabar this weekend at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti.
