NPFL Title Race Still Intact, Says Plateau United Andrew Ikefe

Plateau United defender Andrew Ikefe says their chase for the Nigeria Professinal Football League, NPFL title is still intact despite being seven points adrift of league leaders, Rivers United.

The Peace boys are second in the league with 51 points after 27 round of games and six points ahead of third place Rangers Int’l.

Plateau United hopes of closing the gap on Rivers United suffered a setback after going down 1-2 to neighbor’s Nasarawa United at the weekend in Bauchi.

But Ikefe is of the view that their title chase is not over with the number of games remaining in the league.

“It still early to right us (Plateau) off from the league race,” said Ikefe.

“We understand were we are in the league and you can’t just push us aside with the way we are going about our games.

“A lot can still happen with thirteen games remaining. We’re taking a game at a time not minding what happens elsewhere. Before the kickoff of the league, we had already set a target of winning the league.

“I believe strongly that the league is not lost and we are still in for it,” Ikefe enthused.

Plateau United will host Wikki Tourists on match day 28 at the new Jos stadium on Sunday evening.
