NPFLMD2: NASARAWA UNITED HELD BY DETERMINED GOMBE UNITED IN LAFIA

Nasarawa United FC were not at their best on Boxing Day as they were forced to share the points with visiting Gombe United at the Lafia City Stadium.

Before kick-off, the Lafia-based side had resolved to capitalise on the point gotten off Heartland FC last weekend at Owerri, Imo State, but things changed against their expectations despite in-form right-back, Abubakar Abdullahi, netting the opener three minutes into the restart, as substitute, Yusuf Abdulazeez, broke the home fans’ hearts with a late equaliser in the 96th minute.

The Solid Miners who have now dropped to 12th position on the league table following today’s result, will be heading to Ikenne, Ogun State, for a date with top-flight league returnees, Remo Stars in a midweek encounter.

Coach Arikya Abubakar(NAS): “This is what football entails – it’s normal in football what happened this evening, but we don’t have to dwell long on this because there are more tasks ahead for us.

“However, we will correct our mistakes and turn attention to the next game against Remo.”

“Coach Aliyu Zubairu(GOM): “After the disappointment of our home draw against Shooting Stars, we had to come up with another game plan against Nasarawa United, which worked for us, partially.
