NYG 2021: EKSFA Hails Gov. Fayemi, Sports Commissioner, Awopetu, Calls For More Support On Grassroots Footballers

The Ekiti State Football Association (EKSFA) has praised Governor Kayode Fayemi, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Michael Awopetu and the leadership of the Eliti State Sports Council led by the energetic Chairman, Mrs. Olusola Osetoba on the state’s performance at the recently concluded 2021 National Youth Games.

The State contingent won 13 medals ( 2gold, 9 silver and 2 bronze medals at the annual multi-sport event hosted by Kwara state to set a record in the books of the State since participating at the youth-based games.

The commendation featured in a statement issued at the emergency board meeting of the Football Association in Ado-Ekiti.

While highlighting the success of the inaugural EKSFA Merit Awards, the Board appreciated Mr. O’Seun Odewale, Grand patron of the association, the organizing committee and partners – Voice 89.9FM, A-Z Events Experts, Koltotel Plaza and Hotels and T-Pumpy Concept – for the feat.

For the sustenance of football’s contributions to youth development, the board also urged local football councils in the State to put efforts together towards the hosting of the LFC Unity Cup 2021. Through the competition, the board is seeking to engage and groom grassroots footballers.

“The Board commended Local Football Councils in Ekiti State that have made visible efforts to stage the LFC Unity Cup 2021, encouraging others to intensify efforts,” the statement read.
