Osetoba To Parents: ‘Support Your Female Child To Actively Participate in Sports’

Chairman, Ekiti State Sports Council, Hon Mrs Olusola Osetoba has called on parents to support their female child to actively participate in sports

Osetoba said this at the weekend in Emure when she hosted her team Osetoba Babes that represented Emure Local Goverment in the female category of the Prof Akin Oyebode U-15 Football Competition recently held in Ekiti.

She encouraged the young girls to take their academics serious and also take sports, football in particular as an hobby making references to females who have had breakthrough in sports.

The council chairman also lament about the views of parents not supporting their lads (females) in participating in sporting activities.

“Parents should encourage their girls to participate in sporting activities. “Gone are the days we see sports as men games. We have had women who made their breakthrough in sports, particular in football.

“Sports is not only meant for men and we have to make our parents understanding this fact,” said Osetoba.

She promised to keep the girls together and provide their needs and charged the coaches to impact positive morals in the lads.

Responding on behalf of the team (Osetoba Babes), Samson Ukamaka the team captain thanked Hon. Osetoba for the privilege given them to compete with their colleagues from other local governments.

“It was a great experience and exposure for us, as some of us were invited for trials with the Ekiti FA female team, The Queen Bees were we learnt team spirit.

“We will continue to work hard and make you (Osetoba) happy,” Ukamaka maintained.

Emure LFC chairman, Osegboun Anthony was happy with the gestures of Hon. Osetoba and begged her to meet with concerns persons in Emure to help develop football and sports so that Emure can compete with other Local Governments in the State as the Ekiti FA under the chairmanship of Bayo Olanlege is moving football in the State to a greater height.

Osetoba however promised she will attend to the needs of developing football and sports in Emure and outside the Local government.
