Players’ Status Committee: Legal Advocacy Group commends NFF, Sports Minister for yielding

The Legal Advocacy for Advancement of Football in Nigeria has hailed the Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, and the NFF for yielding in an appeal to constitute the Players’ Status Committee and Arbitration Tribunal.

After much pressure by the Legal advocacy group on the NFF and the Sports Minister, the Players’ Status Committee is one of the sub-committees composed as announced earlier this week.

According to a release by the country’s football federation, the Players’ Status Committee would be chaired by Alh. Ganiyu Majekodunmi and assisted by Alh Babagana Kalli.

Mr. Patrick Pascal, Mr. Henry Osaro Asemota, and Mal Tijjani Babangida ( President Players Union) are named as members of the committee.

Coopted members of the committee are Mr. Julius Aghaghowa, Alh Bello Garba Gusau, Mr. Ogheneochukwu Ambakedere.

The Legal Advocacy for the advancement of football in Nigeria in a statement in Abuja commended the NFF for allowing wise reasoning to prevail by constituting the Players’ Status Committee.

“We want to commend the Minister of Sports (Sunday Dare), and the NFF for allowing wise reasoning to prevail by constituting the Players’ Status Committee.” the group said.

The group added that “We urge the appointed members to use the opportunity to advance the course of justice in Nigeria football.”
