The NPFL Defender That Should Displace Troost-Ekong In The Center Back Position At AFCON 2021

There is need for Super Eagles Interim manager, Augustine Eguavoen to have a second thought over William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun partnership in the central defense of the national team.

This change is necessary due to the drop in form of the Watford man in recent times both at the national level and at club level.

Troost-Ekong has not been at his best in most of the games he featured during the world Cup qualifiers.

He has always been a suspect as he easily give out possession to the our opponents. His performance at the club level is not encouraging as well.

This is why Eguavoen must take a look at Rangers International FC Captain Tope Olusesi to replace him at the forthcoming AFCON tournament in Cameroon. The versatile 25-year-old defender mostly plays in the right back position of his team. He can also play effectively in the central defense as well as in the midfield position.

I strongly believe he can performance excellently along with Leon Balogun in the center back position of the Super Eagles. In Olusesi, we could have another “Godfrey Oboabona” who happened to be a home based professional player before he was invited by late Stephen keshi for the 2013 AFCON which Nigeria won.

Tope would no doubt proof difficult for our opponents to penetrate the defense due to his ruggedness in the back.

Do you think Tope Olusesi should be called upon to take the place of Troost-Ekong at the forthcoming tournament ? What do you think about my suggestion.

  1. I wonder who paid you for this advert. Tope is a wonderful player but never a central defender. He doesn’t even have the height.
