From Yakubu Obande.

With the recent appointment of Coach Finidi George as the head coach of the Super Eagles, one time league star Dayo Davies has advocated for total supports for the new coach.

According to him, Finidi should to be given free hands to work without interference from any Quarter just the same way foreign coaches are been allowed to work.

The former Lobi Stars FC and Julius Berger Lagos midfielder said he believes in indigenous coaches to always handle our senior National Team the way some key south American countries do Engaged their citizens and also some African countries.
Dayo Davies believes that coaches succeeded if they are well treated like the foreign ones and if all logistics are well put in place.

” I am one of those that love seeing our coaches taking charge of our senior National Team due to I have played our domestic league before moving out for professional Football in Europe and with the standard of many of the well trained coaches now and with the supports of the football federation in given the coach the free hands to invite players for games I don’t think he would fail the country and what’s Paramount is putting on logistics on track for him to succeed”. He stated.
It was recalled that the first Nigeria coach to handle the super Eagles to Nations cup 1984,Coach festus onibingde and was given free hands and lately we had it in 2013 when late Stephen keshi was able to conquer Africa by winning the Nations cup in South Africa.Dayo Davies applauded the football federation for considering an indigenous coach for the job.
