Coach Austine Eguavoen Wins AFCON 2021 Group Stage Best Manager Award

The Confederation of African Football has selected Nigerian coach, Austin Eguavoen as the best manager during the group stage of the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament that is taking place in Cameroon.

Eguavoen emerged the winner after he recorded three straight wins for Nigeria. He was the only coach that has not lost or draw a single match throughout the group stage.

It would be recalled that the three-time African champions defeated Egypt by 1-0 in the opening group D encounter. They also pulled a 3-1 win against Sudan. The last game against Guinea-Bissau also went in favor of Nigeria as the West African side scored two past Guinea-Bissau.

Eguavoen efforts has been noticed as Caf Media department took a review of the group stage performance from the 24 countries that participated.

It is on record that Eguavoen achieved the same feat few years ago during the 2006 AFCON tournament when he was in charge of the team.
