Bronze Glory For Anambra: Maureen Mmadu Football Academy Urges Dr. Nonye Soludo’s Attention
The 12th CNS/NOWA Soccer Tournament concluded with an exhilarating display of talent as Maureen Mmadu Football Academy, representing Anambra State, clinched the bronze medal in the U-17 girls third-place match. The team secured victory with a commanding 2-0 win over Osun State, showcasing their resilience and skill on the field. Despite facing adversity, including injuries and sickness among their players, Head Coach Maureen Mmadu led her team with determination and perseverance.
In an interview with the press, Maureen Mmadu disclosed that they participated in the tournament with only 13 players, while other teams arrived with up to 20 to 25 players. She emphasized that the limited number of players proved to be a challenge, attributing the bronze medal to this constraint. She lamented that with a full squad, they could have clinched the tournament title, but due to financial limitations, logistics couldn’t be provided for the full team.
The victory for Maureen Mmadu Football Academy, Anambra, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, was a testament to their hard work and dedication. Despite facing setbacks, the team’s performance on the field demonstrated their commitment to excellence and teamwork. As they proudly received their bronze medals, Coach Mmadu and her players celebrated their achievement and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their talent on a national stage.
Considering the tournament as a national competition, Anambra State’s third-place finish is a commendable achievement on the national stage. Maureen Mmadu Football Academy is now open for support, calling on key stakeholders like Her Excellency Dr. Nonye Soludo, the Wife of the Governor, Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Hon. Ify Obinabo, and Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Patrick Estate Onyedum, to receive and support these young female stars who represented the state at the national level and secured a remarkable third-place finish.
