The President of Africa Beach Soccer Union (ABSU) and Chairman of Kebbi Beach Soccer Association (KBSA), Mr. Mahmud Hadejia was full of praise for Her Excellency, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu during the commissioning of Kawara Sports Center in Kebbi State.
The Kawara Sports Center is a first of its kind facility that will engage youths in productive sporting endeavours through access to world class equipment, training and infrastructure. By engaging the youths the goal is to curb drug abuse, crimes and other misdemeanors.
Hadejia who delivered a goodwill message during the ceremony stated that Dr. Zainab has supported the Kebbi Beach Soccer Club through its journey to becoming the number one ranked Beach Soccer Club in Nigeria and Africa. He also noted that using the platform of Northern Governors Wives Forum, the first lady helped introduce legislation against Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Kebbi State.
In his message, the ABSU President also reminded the audience of Dr. Zainab’s continuous advocacy towards fighting cervical cancer in our society through the MedicAid Cancer Foundation which she founded. He further wished her success in her bid to become President of Union of International Cancer Control (UICC) – a global body that supports and promotes the fight against cancer.
Mr. Mahmud also thanked His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for being a sport loving governor whose administration has given KBSA all the necessary support over the years. The ABSU President also recognized the support of Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Chika Mallami (SAN) to youths in the State.
Hadejia led a delegation of players and officials of Africa’s Number one Beach Soccer Club who were present to showcased their trophies and medals at the event.
