Legal Advocacy group storms NFF, demands Players’ Status Committee, Arbitration Tribunal

The Legal Advocacy for the Advancement of Football in Nigeria has issued a one-month ultimatum to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF on the constitution of a Players’ Status Committee and an Arbitration Tribunal in accordance with the NFF Statue 2010.

In the letter with reference number: IT/No119020, signed by the Head of Litigation, Abdulhaleem AMIN, Esq, the Legal Advocacy group which is duly registered under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and aimed at advancing football and the wellbeing of its stakeholders in the country insisted that the welfare of players and coaches should be paramount and top priority.

According to the letter sent and received by the NFF on 13/7/2020, the Legal Advocacy for the Advancement of Football in Nigeria affirmed that the NFF is only doing a disservice to the advancement of football in the country and making efforts to ridicule the country “in the comity of great footballing nations”

The Legal Advocacy group for football advancement is recognized as a formidable body, coordinated by Bar. Audu Muhammed Lawal who also doubles as the legal officer of both the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers aka Players Union and the Nigeria Football Coaches Association and Bar. Victoria Nlemigbo, a renowned Human Rights Lawyer, and former Hed of Women Football in the FCT FA for 10 years as Secretary.

The body which has a national spread and boasts of lawyers across the federation cites the article 53 and 68-69 of the NFF Statute, 2010 which authorize the establishment of the Players’ Status Committee and Arbitration tribunal, insists the football governing body in the country but play by its own rules.

Therefore, a ONE-Month Ultimatum has been issued to the NFF to put in place the necessary structures in full compliance with articles 53 and 68-69 of the NFF Statute as entailed in the letter or face legal actions.

Meanwhile, the Legal advocacy group has hinted that all mechanisms are set to take necessary actions against if the NFF fails to meet their demands.
