As the curtains fall on the Nigeria National League (NNL) Southern Conference B1 group today, Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Michael Awopetu has expressed confidence that Ekiti United will pick a slot for the NNL Super 8.

Ekiti United host Dynamite Force FC of Edo on Sunday evening in the final game of the 2020-21 NNL season in Ado-Ekiti.

The Oluyemi Kayode Stadium giant are third on the log with 30 points from 19 games played so far.

Hon. Awopetu in an exclusive interview told FreekickNaija on Saturday morning stated that Ekiti United has been giving the necessary support and well motivated to beat Dynamite Force to book a spot in the NNL Super 8.

“Am confident of victory over Dynamite tomorrow (today) , the players are in high spirit and we have giving them everything they needed to excel,” said Awopetu.

“I have spoken to them, the players are in high spirit, Even the team coming to play us, Dynamite are already catching cold because we (Ekiti United) are better than them. We can not be afraid of a team we’ve played with before, they know us.

“Tomorrow (today’s) game is a forgone conclusion. We are going to win and we are confident of getting to the Super 8, so that’s not a problem,” an excited Awopetu to FreekickNaija.

The soft spoken Awopetu further told FreekickNaija that Ekiti United have been very solid at home and their is no way the team will not get the maximum points.

“Ekiti United is solid in every department of the game.

“We’ve not lost a game at home since the beginning of the league except the draw against table toppers Shooting Stars so you discover we have a bigger chance to get to Super 8 judging by our performances.

“If you look at Ekiti United now, you will see that many of these teams in the NNL are afraid of us because of the quality of players we parade in our teams.

“The first step of making it to the Nigeria Professional Football League is to get to the Super 8 after tomorrow’s victory against Dynamite which is non negotiable then we concentrate on winning the Super 8,” Awopetu maintained.

A win tomorrow against Dynamite Force will secure their NNL Super 8 while hoping Osun United beat or at least pick a draw against second place Go-Round FC with 31 points from same number of games at the Osogbo Township Stadium on Sunday evening.
