Why Eguavoen Should Be Allowed To Continue As Super Eagles Coach

It is no longer news that Super Eagles of Nigeria have been eliminated from the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament that is taking place in Cameroon after losing 1-0 against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

The game which was decided on Sunday evening at the Roumdé-Adjia Stadium in Garoua, saw the four times winners of the competition bundled out of the tournament with only one goal that was scored by Tunisian striker.

The goal came in few minutes into the second half as Maduke Okoye was taken unaware.

Before the encounter, there was call for coach Austine Eguavoen to continue handling the team following his superb performance in the group stage. Even the Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick stated that there is chances that the football body would allow Eguavoen to continue if he wins the tournament.

However, with the early exit, I still think Eguavoen should be allowed to continue. The coach has shown that he is the right person to manage the team and there is nothing special that Jose Peseiro would bring to the team.

Secondly, it would not cost the NFF money if they decided to stick with Austine Eguavoen since he is under their payroll.
