Ifeanyi Ubah International stadium Nnewi today was the centre of attraction in Nnewi as KM Lubricants Anambra All Stars Tournament came to and end.
The grand finale which had Okwenu All Stars and Juventus FC struggled it out for the prize of one million naira, in a keenly contested game, Okwenu All Stars defeated Juventus FC through a late goal by Chidebere from the corner kick.
Juventus FC had the most chance to win the game , no thanks to their makeshift front man who had many chances missed .
In the third position match played earlier, Torwaleen FC defeated fans favourites SSK 5-4 on penalties to consolidate the third position.
A breakdown of prizes won showed that champions Okwenu All Stars won #1,000,000 , Juventus FC #500,000 , Torwaleen FC #300,000 and 4th placed team SSK, #200,000.
All the teams that qualified for the quarter finals were given #100,000 each.
Reacting to the successful completion of the tournament, Ichie Kenneth Mmaduakor , the CEO of KM Lubricants expressed his satisfaction with the madien edition of the tournament and promise to sponsor a better edition next year , in his word ” I thank God for a successful tournament, it wasn’t easy but it was a success, I appreciate the organisers and the teams that played , it is not about the trophy, it is about keeping old men like us healthy through football, teams from different parts of Anambra came in to play and of course the tournament produce a champion , we have learnt different lessons from few mistakes and we looking forward to see a better edition next year”
