Towards having a vibrant grassroot sports development in the State, the Ekiti Sports Council led by it chairman Hon. Mrs Olusola Osetoba paid a working visit to the State Universal Basic Education Board chairman, Prof Sunday Akinwunmi in his office recently.
Osetoba in company of her board members were at the office to intimate the chairman on the need to collaborate in areas of grassroot sports development in the State.
Mrs Osetoba thanked the chairman for warmly receiving the council despite is busy schedules.
In her remarks, the council chairman said their mission was to form a synergy with the Education Board in areas of discovering talents from the grassroot our in schools.
“We can not rule out your importance to us because you play a bigger role in our basic education and this is were talents are planted.
Osetoba added: “We urge you to encourage sports among our little ones in schools. It important to note that the best way to have sports men and women who will do the State and Nation proud in the future is by identifying and engaging them at their young age,” she concluded.
Responding to the demand, the SUBEB chairman, Prof. Sunday Akinwunmi welcomed the council chairman and her board and thanked them for finding it worthy to visit him.
I’m pleased to receive you. “Sports is an integral part of our society and cannot be rule out in our schools.
“We (SUBEB) understand the important of sports in our schools and we have always been a partner in progress in developing our children who are engaged in various sports.
“I want to seriously key in to your mission and vision into developing grassroot sports in Ekiti State. We will do everything possible to support you and promote the relationship that have existed between the education board and sports council,” Akinwunmi maintained.
In the meeting were the sports council board members, Hon. Oyebode Tanwa, Hon. Akinlabi Francis and Hon. Olanipekun Kehinde.
