Why Uzoho Should Have Man The Goal Post For Nigeria Instead Of Okoye

It is no longer news that Super Eagles of Nigeria campaign in the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament that is taking place in Cameroon have been halted by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

Nigeria suffered 1-0 defeat in the hands of the North African side after the first half ended at a goalless draw.

Tunisia’s game came in few minutes into the second half as Super Eagles goalkeeper failed to parry the on rushing ball to the right direction.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have been reacting over the goal that was conceded with some people blaming Maduka Okoye.

I think one of the mistakes Coach Eguavoen made was sticking with Okoye as the team’s first choice goalkeeper instead of Uzoho who is more experienced.

Uzoho has been our first choice goalkeeper and could have easily dealt with the goal that was scored. Maduka has not shown any spectacular saves throughout the tournament. He was often covered by the defense and that is why the team didn’t concede goal from open play until yesterday’s defeat.
