Andrew Ikefe: ‘We have learnt from our mistakes’

By Gbenga Adeleye

Plateau United central defender Andrew Ikefe says the Peace boys have learnt from their “mistakes” after back-to-back away defeat to Warri Wolves and Enyimba Int’l repectively ahead of Akwa United game this afternoon.

Plateau United lost to Wolves 1-0 on matchday day 8 in Ozoro before a 1-2 defeat to Enyimba on match day 9 in Aba.

The Abdul Maikaba side are fifteenth on the log with eleven points from nine games played so far.

Speaking to FreeKickNaija in an interview, Ikefe said his side must not repeat the mistakes they made against Wolves and Enyimba, but must improve on thier away games if they want to stand any chance of competing for the league title this term.

“We have corrected our mistakes going into today’s game against a very good team, Akwa United. “We cant afford to let our head loose because we will get punished with the kind of strikers (Akwa) have in their fold.

“Losing two consecutive away games as defending league champoins doesn’t speak well for us (Plateau),” said Ikefe.

“We have learnt our lessons from these games. When you play on the road, you have to take your chances as they come, else you will be punished for those missed chances.

“The league is competitive now and every team wants to win not minding were (home or away) you playing from.”
