The second edition of MOB Ekiti Central Senatorial Unity cup, 2024 to kick-off soon in all the local government area of the Senatorial District.
According to MOB sports coordinator, Adefemi Popoola said preparations are already in top gear to host a well organized tournament from the previous edition is almost concluded and a date will be communicated in due time.
“There is no cause for alarm as the organising committee are working assiduously to ensure a hitch free tournament.
“We are aware of the insunation within the senatorial district that the previous tournament was because of the engagement of our principal, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele who was vying for a political office to canvas for votes.
“This insunation are baseless because our principal have been involved in a lot of grassroots programs which is not limited to football alone.
“We have the MOB youth empowerment program where over 1000 youths have benefited in different skills acquisition. Recently, 150 youths were given scholarships in schools.
“It obvious that mischief makers are out there to send wrong signals to the public of our principal. The facts are there for us to see and we will continue to support and develop grassroot talents in every aspect to help them achieve their goals in life,” said Popoola.
The competition has produced local and international football stars which includes Babatunde Bello (now with Future FC of Egypt), Alimi Sunday formerly of AO Kavala of Turkey, Wale Makanjuola and Seyi Akinyemi both of Ekiti United.
The Unity football cup tournament have both male and female categories.
