Oyebode Charges Sports Council To Be Innovative and Self Reliance

The Commissioner of Finance, Ekiti State, Hon. Akintunde Oyebode last week charged the State Sports Council to be innovative and self reliance if they want to take sports to an enviable height in the State.

The commissioner said this while addressing the State Sports Council led by the Chairman, Hon. Mrs Olusola Osetoba and her board members when they paid him a working visiting in his office at the Government House, Ado-Ekiti.

Oyebode stated that the Sports Council activities should be inline with the the Governor Kayode Fayemi governance structure.

“Government can not do all but with the enabling environment and facilities provided, the Council should fashion out ways of been self reliance than waiting for government to do all.

“Sports is a big business and I urgue you to be innovative and think about bringing in private participant in sponsoring sporting events.

“Let me say this, consider myself as an allay, Oyebode maintained.”

While responding, Hon. Mrs Osetoba commended the commissioner for is renewed support for the Council and sports generally in the State.

“We have come to seek your support in sports development in the State because you have shown over time your love for sports.

“The Council under my watch will not relent in taking sports to an enviable height in the state. We have heard you and we shall hit the ground running.

“We are exploring various ways at developing sports from the grassroots with private participant. Our visit is to work in synergy with your office so as for the council to achieve it optimum goal,” said the council Boss.

Hon. Oyebode Tanwa on behalf of the council thanked the Commissioner for giving the council audience, been open and practical and assured that the council will look at ways of bringing in private partcipant to improve sports development in the state.

In attendance were the Ekiti State Sports Council board members, Hon. Ojo Oluwadare, Hon. Oyebode Tanwa, Hon. Akinlabi Francis, Ajibola Adenike (Information Officer) and Sports Council General Manager, Chief Deji Samo.
