Why I Did Not Invite Cyriel Dessers To Super Eagles – Eguavoen

Holland based Nigerian striker, Cyriel Dessers has been constantly overlooked by Super Eagles Interim manager Austine despite his form with Feyenoord in the Dutch elite division.

Dessers who has registered six goals and provided one assist in the ongoing 2021-2022 Eredivisie league season, was also omitted by Eguavoen in his squad that prosecuted the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

Questions have been raised by football pundits as well as some Super Eagles fans on why Dessers is not being given a chance in the current set up of the team.

However, the coach has come out to state in clear times that Dessers as well as other good players are still in his plan. He admitted in a video interview with Elegbete TV that the reason why he is yet to include Dessers in his squad is because he hasn’t watched the striker play life. He went further explain that apart from watching him play, he still have to discuss with him and know his level of commitment.

“I need to watch him play live and have a personal talk with him just like the case of Ademola Lookman” Eguavoen stated.
