Bayo Olanlege Calls For More Football Stakeholders In Top Government Positions

Ekiti State Football Association chairman, Mr Bayo Olanlege has opined that everyone in the Football Ecosystem in the State should strive hard to be part of the electioneering process in order to determine those that will govern the State.

Speaking at the 2021 Ekiti FA Annual General Assembly held on Wednesday at the Koltotel Plaza and Hotels, Ado Ekiti, Olanlege harped on the need for sports men and women to have their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) so that the sports sector especially can be counted as a strong force in decision making.

“We have Professors running the affairs of Ministry of Education, why do we continue to have politicians turned sports administrators as our leaders in the sports circle, that is why we must have our Permanent Voters Card, so as to determine our fate in Ekiti State sports and football circle.”

Olanlege further harped on the importance of the Ekiti FA ID Card, that it’s the means of identity for anyone in the Ekiti Football Ecosystem.

Former Chairman of the Ekiti State Football Association and Board member, Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Taiwo Odebunmi who at the first session of the AGA delivered a lecture on the topic “Association Football”, bared his thoughts on the need for teams to affiliate with the Ekiti State FA saying it is non negotiable.

Chairman of the Ekiti State Sports Council Mrs Olusola Osetoba showered encomiums on the Bayo Olanlege led Ekiti FA Board and urged teams to affiliate with the FA saying the sports council will not give out the stadium for any football competition that is not approved by the FA.

Former Ekiti State Football Association Chairman, Dr Issac Ayodele who was also present further advised the Ekiti State FA to see the number of people doing football at the sixteen (16) local government areas in the state as its strength since politics is a game of numbers.

At the AGA, the presentation of the financial statement as well as report of activities in the 2020/2021 football season was submitted and approved by the Congress. Also, the workplan and budget for the 2021/2022 season was approved after it was present to the Congress.
